November 5th
What is Bonfire Night?
On November 5 people across the UK celebrate Bonfire Night. There are small
fireworks parties in back gardens along with big organised displays in public
parks.
Bonfires are lit all over the UK every November 5
The reason they do it is because it's the anniversary of an attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament led by a man called Guy Fawkes.
It's called the Gunpowder Plot, and bonfires are lit to burn the
"Guy" - a kind of dummy that represents Fawkes.
What was the Gunpowder Plot?
Guy Fawkes led the Gunpowder plot in 1605. It was a plan to blow up King James
I and his government.
Fawkes and his group put 36 barrels of gunpowder in cellars under the
Houses of Parliament in London.
One member of the group sent a letter to his friend who worked in
Parliament, warning him to stay away on November 5.
The King's supporters got hold of the letter and the plot was rumbled!
Guards broke into the cellars where the gunpowder plotters were waiting.
They were arrested, tortured and executed.
The Gunpowder Plot was about religion. England was a Protestant country,
and the plotters were Catholic.
The group wanted to return England to the Catholic faith. They thought they
could do this by killing King James I and his ministers.
To this day, it is customary for the cellars in the Houses of Parliament to be searched by the Yeoman of the Guard before each State Opening of Parliament.
The anniversary of Fawkes' arrest on 5 November is celebrated each year with fireworks and bonfires. Effigies of Guy Fawkes ("the guy") are often burned on top of the bonfires.

April 1st is APRIL FOOLS´DAY
April
Fools' Day, also known as All Fools' Day is celebrated as a day when people
play all kinds of pranks (jokes) and try to make fool of the others.
Although
the day, also called All Fools' Day, has been celebrated for several centuries
by different cultures, its exact origins remain a mystery. Some historians
speculate that April Fools' Day dates back to 1582, when France switched from
the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of
Trent in 1563. People, who were slow to get the news or failed to recognize
that the start of the new year had moved to January 1st, continued to celebrate
it during the last week of March through April 1st playing jokes and
tricks on people. In other words, fooling people
These jokes included having
paper fish placed on their backs and being referred to as "poisson
d'avril" (April fish), said to symbolize a young, easily caught fish and a
gullible person (a fool).
Some ideas can be found here.
The song´s lyrics:
Treat me like a fool,
Treat me mean and cruel,
But love me.
Wring my faithful heart,
Tear it all apart,
But love me.
If you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
I'll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.
I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin' close to mine
Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
I'll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.
I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin' close to mine
Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
Beggin' on my knees,
All I ask is please...
LEPRECHAUNS AND SAINT PATRICKS DAY
LEPRECHAUNS AND SAINT PATRICK'S DAY
Leprechauns are male fairies from Irish Folklore. They take the
form of an old man, dressed in a red or green coat.
Leprechauns are not taller
than a small child, they have a beard and they wear a tall hat. They are said
to be solitary creatures who enjoy playing jokes to unaware people .
The leprechauns spend all
their time making shoes and storing gold coins in their hidden pot of gold at
the end of the rainbow. They will play jokes on you and spread shamrocks all
over, but if you ever capture a leprechaun, you will find its pot of gold, and it will grant you three magical wishes so you
let him free.
On
Saint Patrick's day many people fancy dress as a Leprechaun and play
jokes on people. As said before, Leprechauns love joking at people.
Watch out and look at them in their eyes to avoid mischiefs!
Hey hey.....and if you find the pot of gold...please SHARE!!!
On February 14th Valentinés Day is celebrated all around the world.
Here you are some proposals, things to do on such special day...
1.- Listen to this song (Valentine) by Kina Grannis and read the lyrics below. It´s dead easy!
Love, it's a special day
We should celebrate and appreciate
That you and me found something pretty neat
And I know some say this day is arbitrary
But it's a good excuse, put our love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you
Love, I don't need those things
I don't need no ring
I don't need anything
But you with me
'Cause in your company
I feel happy, oh so happy and complete
And it's a good excuse, put our love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you
Yeah, it's a good excuse, put our love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you
So won't you be my honey bee?
Giving me sweet kisses all the time
Be mine, be my Valentine
So won't you be my honey bee?
Giving me sweet kisses all the time
Be mine, be my Valentine
Ohhh, Oh woah, Be my Valentine
We should celebrate and appreciate
That you and me found something pretty neat
And I know some say this day is arbitrary
But it's a good excuse, put our love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you
Love, I don't need those things
I don't need no ring
I don't need anything
But you with me
'Cause in your company
I feel happy, oh so happy and complete
And it's a good excuse, put our love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you
Yeah, it's a good excuse, put our love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you
So won't you be my honey bee?
Giving me sweet kisses all the time
Be mine, be my Valentine
So won't you be my honey bee?
Giving me sweet kisses all the time
Be mine, be my Valentine
Ohhh, Oh woah, Be my Valentine

SOME DEFINITIONS OF "LOVE" BY CHILDREN
A
group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8
year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and
deeper than anyone could have imagined.
See what you think:
"When
my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her
toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even
when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca - age 8
When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4
"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5
"Love
is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries
without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy - age 6
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen" Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate" Nikka - age 6
"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." Noelle - age 7
"Love
is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends
even after they know each other so well." Tommy - age 6
"My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." Clare - age 6
"Love is when Daddy gives Mommy the best piece of chicken." Elaine -age 5
"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford." Chris - age 7
"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day." Mary Ann - age 4
"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." Lauren - age 4
"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." Karen - age 7
- Which one do you like most? Why?
- How would you define "love"?
3.- If you are handy and you like making crafts, try making one of these.
4.- There is even a film for that day....

4.- There is even a film for that day....
Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman) returned with a new romantic comedy – Valentine’s Day,
which, you guessed it, was released on Valentine’s Day. The film tells the story of
intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles as they break-up and
make-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentine’s Day.
The catch? This film features a strong ensemble cast of popular actors and actresses. A film like this was sure to make a ton of money based on that cast alone.
Box office & critical response
The film debuted with $52.4 million its opening weekend, grabbing the number 1 spot over the holiday that shares its name. Despite being a box office success, Valentine's Day received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics and average reviews from the communityWould you like to see it?
